Art has long generated meaning, content, and function by giving form to materials and bringing forth order. The recent democratization of information dissemination and production technologies has dramatically transformed our lives, creating torrents of culture that shift from moment to moment. Within this context, how can we draw from the overflowing streams of information, shape theoretical perspectives, individuality, and modes of communication, and in turn build society? To explore these questions, the Kyoto City University of Arts graduate common course “Advanced Design Studies” conducts a lecture series that invites guests with diverse forms of expertise who cultivate unique public spheres across the arts and culture.

芸術はかねてより、素材に形式を与え秩序を出現させることによって、意味や内容や機能を作り出してきました。 近年の情報発信や生産技術の民生化はわたしたちの生活に劇的な変化をもたらし、 日々刻々と変わる文化の奔流をうんでいます。そのようななか、どのようにわたしたちは情報から溢れでる流れを汲み上げ、 理論的な視野、固有性、コミュニケーションのあり方に形を与え、社会を作り出しているのでしょうか。 そこで、京都市立芸術大学大学院共通講義「デザイン学特論」では、芸術文化において、独自の公共圏を形成している営みたちに着目し、 様々な専門性と職能をもったゲストを招いた連続講義をおこないます。
